Board member, Connie More came across this wonderful video of a speech by Sir Ken Robinson. He clearly lays out what’s wrong with our education system and why the arts are so needed.

Thanks for posting this, John. When the speaker/animator arrives at the value of arts section, the film itself generates the type of FEELING that explains the power and importance of the arts. Life is grim and society simply can’t progress without them! We must all ensure that school boards as well as other levels of government know and CARE about this.
I know a few people in Education circles – trustees, administrators, teachers – and they all know of Sir Kenneth and share his vision of the future of education. My sense is they are just unsure what steps will have to be taken to get there. They know it is not just about adding some arts to the current flawed system – they know that it must be a whole new system – a paradigm shift.
