A New Book by Simon Brault That Everyone Should Know About
Read this article from the Globe and Mail:
A new book on culture, the arts, and the public
The head of the National Theatre School has spurred debate on the direction of arts policy with his new book.
Cultural participation includes support to all the amateur practices – people being involved in choirs and community theatres and all that. This is the more profound way to engage with the arts. –Simon Brault
Changing the World
One child at a time
Based on El Sistema, the remarkable music program in Venezuea, and happening right here in Vancouver, St. James Music Academy offers free (yes, free) music lessons to children from the downtown east side and elsewhere. Started in 2007 by Kathy Walker, the school now has 75 kids in regular attendance learning to play classical music on strings, piano, guitar, and percussion. There is also a dance and vocal component. We invite you to visit the website, volunteer, contribute, get involved. You, too, can change the world.
